Partner's right to defend property
When the 10 partners of stockbroker Arden gathered for a board meetings on Monday night at their Birmingham offices, they had unexpected company.
Chairman Grahame Whateley heard a noise and sent his head of sales (and former Moseley rugby player), James Reed-Daunter, to check it out.
Accompanied by colleague (and special constable) Jonathan Keeling, he discovered two lads trying to steal the finance director's laptop.
"They couldn't have been in a worse place at a worse time," says Reed-Daunter. "This is not meant to be bravado but they were more shocked than we were. There were a few blows exchanged but we got our laptop back and called the boys in blue."
